Beautification Committee

The Beautification Committee is a volunteer committee tasked with the following:

  • Beautification service and clean up projects in city parks and other areas.
  • Encourage intergovernmental and private sector relationships and initiatives for beautification.
  • Manage the City Hall Art Exhibit program.
  • Facilitate the Make Star Shine Fall and Spring projects.
  • Manage the State Street and Beacon Light Adopt-A-Hwy clean-up sections twice a year.
  • Manage the Light Up Star Holiday Light Contest.

City Hall Public Art Program

The Star City Hall Public Art Exhibit is a public art program intended to stimulate awareness and appreciation of the importance of publicly accessible art and its benefits to the community, encourage the growth and preservation of the city’s art resources, and foster the development of a receptive climate for the arts. This program is under the direction of the City of Star and is facilitated by the Parks, Art, and Beautification Committee (PABC).

Traffic Box Art Project

The Traffic Signal Box Beautification project is a public art program intended to transform specific traffic signal boxes into distinctive works of art, creating a more vibrant, attractive community. The program celebrates local artwork, deters graffiti, and involves residents in contributing to the City of Star’s beautification.  Current traffic box art i located at the Star Mercantile & Ridley's Market.   Thank you to Ridley's and Steve's Auto Care for sponsoring these projects.
