A New Generation

a new generation

by April McIntyre (located at Star Rd and State St)

I have been drawing since I can remember, and painting for over 40 years. Horses are one of my favorite subjects. "A New Generation (In Memory of Faydra)" was painted in acrylics on canvas. Star is such a wonderful community and I love being a part of it. It was an honor to have my painting selected.

When the Parks, Art, & Beautification Committee requested subjects that represented the community of Star, Faydra's story immediately came to mind. Faydra J - the Patriotic horse of Idaho was my inspiration. Faydra was in many of Star's July 4th Hometown Parades over the years. Her owner, Stephanie Paulson, painted her each July 4th with beautiful patriotic images and rode her bareback in the parades. She was a very special mare and was always a favorite with the crowds. Sadly, Faydra passed in 2022, so this year her son KZ was painted in the same stars and stripes image that Faydra wore in her last parade. A sweet nod to Faydra's memory. KZ reflected the same calm, gentle nature of Faydra as his owner rode him through the crowds in the parade. KZ did his mama proud!
