New Driver’s License Office Opening in Star City Hall – Appointment Only!

Exciting news for Star residents! Beginning Monday, March 3, a new Driver’s License Office will open inside Star City Hall—making it more convenient than ever to take care of your licensing needs without traveling to Boise or Meridian.

This office is operated by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, not the City of Star. Please do not call City Hall for appointments or information.

The Ada County Driver’s License Offices operate by appointment only. If you arrive without an appointment, you may not be served. To schedule your appointment, visit the link below.

Important Things to Know:

  • Appointments are required—no walk-up service available.
  • One appointment per person—appointments cannot be combined.
  • Arrive on time—you have a 10-minute grace period before your appointment is canceled.
  • No children allowed in the testing area—if you need to take a written or computer test, please make childcare arrangements.
  • Bring required documents—visit the Idaho Transportation Department’s website for a checklist of what to bring for renewals, Star Cards, or new licenses.

Get Your Star Card Before May 2025

Beginning May 7, 2025, a Star Card (Idaho’s REAL ID) or another accepted form of identification, like a passport, will be required to fly domestically or enter federal facilities. We encourage residents to upgrade to a Star Card when renewing their license.
