Stars & Stripes for Veterans
Star’s Flagpole Donation Program
The City of Star is excited to introduce "Stars and Stripes for Veterans", a new program that provides flagpoles to veterans and active duty service members. Mayor Chadwick has been providing flagpoles to veterans for years through word of mouth, but wanted to expand the outreach to more veterans in our community and ensure that any current or former U.S. service member in Star who wants a flagpole, gets one. Thanks to our friends at Lowe’s we can provide the flagpoles at a generous discount.
Through this program, community members can sponsor a flagpole for $100, which will then be presented to a veteran or service member. Donors and recipients will be matched based on their preference to remain anonymous or to be paired with someone who is open to being identified.
Members of the Mayor's Youth Council will be installing the flagpoles, providing an opportunity for our youth to meet and learn about our community’s veterans. This program reflects Star's commitment to honoring those who served our country and a way for residents to show their respect and support.
